Equinox Films
Welcome to Equinox — Where storytelling meets excellence Equinox has shaped some of India’s most memorable and culturally defining commercials — from the iconic Hamara Bajaj anthem to the celebrated Happydent White film, the unforgettable Hippo campaign, and Airtel’s ads that became a phenomenon of their own. Our work hasn’t just reflected the evolution of Indian advertising — it has helped shape it. What drives us is simple: the belief that great storytelling never goes out of style. Equinox has always been home to a diverse family of directors, each with a distinct cinematic voice and a shared obsession with craft.
Equinox is home to Sumantra Ghosal, Ram Madhvani, Deb Medhekar, Nitin Parmar, Sandeep Modi, Tanvi Gandhi, and Anurag Baruah — filmmakers who continues to shine across emotion, humour, fashion, beauty, lifestyle, drama, musicality, and everything in between. Steering this ecosystem of creativity is Manoj Shroff, our Executive Producer. Manoj’s journey from assistant to director to EP has shaped the culture of Equinox — where imagination and precision coexist. His ability to anticipate, organise and execute keeps Equinox fast, focused and fearless, freeing our directors to do what they do best: make exceptional films. Equinox has partnered with every major brand and advertising agency in India, across more than 3,000 campaigns, from emotionally rich narratives to edgy comedy, from earthy realism to high-fashion gloss, from timeless to trendsetting. Some of those trends even began with us. Our work has been celebrated at Cannes, Clio, London International, Adfest, and the Abby’s, and Equinox remains the only production house in India to win the IAAFA Best Production House award three years in a row. But awards aren’t the point — longevity is. In an industry driven by the “next best thing,” our biggest achievement is the loyalty of our clients and agencies, who return to us year after year. Because when storytelling meets excellence, the work speaks for itself. And that’s what Equinox has always stood for — and always will.We firmly believe in the transformative power of honesty and transparency. These values support our ability to create exceptional and meaningful work that sparks inspiration.

Ram first rose to prominence in advertising, where his craftsmanship and storytelling instinct quickly set him apart. Over the years, he has created some of India’s most memorable commercials, including Happydent, Bisleri, Hippo, Airtel’s Har Ek Friend Zaroori Hota Hai, Kindle, Coca-Cola, and many others. His Happydent commercial won two Cannes Lions and, along with his ad for Parle LMN, was featured in Shots magazine’s Top 20 commercials of the last 20 years. Ranked among the Top 10 Directors in the Asia Pacific (2007) and 11th among the most awarded directors worldwide by the Gunn Report, Ram was also appointed President of the Jury – Film Craft at Adfest Bangkok (2011).
His feature film debut, Let’s Talk, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and won Best Debut Director and Best Actor at the Srinivas Gollapudi National Awards. He followed with Neerja, which received widespread critical and commercial acclaim and swept the 2017 awards season, including Best Film and Best Director across every major platform, along with the National Award for Best Feature Film (Hindi).
With his transition into streaming, Ram expanded his storytelling canvas even further. Under Ram Madhvani Films (RMF), he co-created, co-produced, and co-directed the Emmy-nominated series Aarya for Disney+ Hotstar, serving as showrunner across Seasons 1, 2, and 3. He also directed the Netflix feature Dhamaka in collaboration with RSVP Movies.
Most recently, Ram created and directed The Waking of a Nation, now streaming on Sony LIV. From Let’s Talk to Neerja, Aarya, Dhamaka, and The Waking of a Nation, he has consistently delivered emotionally charged, socially relevant narratives with cinematic finesse.
Never one to be confined by convention, Ram continues to experiment with form and technology, including his latest short experimental work — a VR experience based on the Bhagavad Gita using AI, pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling.
Alongside his contributions to cinema and streaming, Ram remains deeply connected to his first love — advertising. Through Equinox Films, he has built one of India’s most respected advertising production houses, home to a distinguished panel of directors and producers who work with some of the biggest brands and agencies in the country.
Driven by curiosity, artistic rigour, and an unshakeable belief in the power of emotion, Ram Madhvani continues to shape the language of modern Indian storytelling — on every screen, in every format.
Deb’s distinctive hairdo (or the lack of it) points us back to its origins at the anti-everything institute in Pune (FTII) where Deb acquired his characteristic hands-on, quirky-graphic aesthetic which allows him to deal with heavy visual effects while retaining a certain folksy twist. .
While still at FTII a spec spot he did for a beer company in Germany won Deb the Konig Ludwig Trophy at the Munich International Students Film Festival. The prize money of 10,000 Euro paid for the rest of his projects including his diploma film - Swayambhu Sen Foresees His End. .
Besides being selected for the Indian Panorama at the International Film Festival of India 2009, this short film has been screened at 6 International Festivals including Festival de Cine Internacional de Barcelona, St. Louis International Film Festival and Gold Lions Film Festival. It also garnered an Honorary Mention at the Columbus International Film & Video Festival. .
However, the call of the ad world would not be denied. .
Dodging past the temptation of Bollywood and wading through murky pools of music videos, Deb found himself (broke and dying to prove his worth) where he was always meant to be - at 140 Famous; doing what he was always meant to do - fight for people's attention in the short gaps between TV shows. .
And so, it came to pass that Deb Medhekar (both hair and talent flying) became part of the next wave of directors at Equinox. .
“All my life I live like I’m under water. It’s only when I’m making a film does it feel like I have come up to breathe." - Swayambhu Sen

Raja not only disciplined the accounting methodology of Equinox but he also introduced a sense of calm to the hitherto unruly proceedings. Today Raja has the experience and maturity that is the envy of other production houses. He is often called upon to share his views on larger industry matters or advise fledgling film companies.
Many would kill to have him run their accounts. Well, too bad. Because, over the years, Raja has become not just Equinox’s Chief Accountant but, more valuably, he is at the very heart of the Equinox family.
